Palazzo Pants

23 May

I’m loving the palazzo pants for this summer. If you’re slightly overwhelmed by the name, it is essentially just a relaxed, loose, wide-legged pants. It is so versatile and appropriate for a lot of body types.

I know it seems a little daunting to wear something so big and apparent when you’re out and about, but there are several cuts of palazzo pants you can get in stores. Some have wider legs than others; if you’re not as confident to wear a really wide-legged palazzo, then stick to slimmer tailored cuts like these Zara beauties, comes in 3 different colours. I’m especially drawn to the striking green pair;

If you’re slightly more brave, these pairs would embrace the palazzo trend well;

Wear this on a hot summer day or out for a special occasion. One of the things that I love most about this pants is that, you can wear it with any top and style it in different ways to achieve different looks everytime!

Pair this with chunky heels and it will elongate your legs like no other! Especially helpful for petites as it will not drown you when you pair this pants with heels!

Olivia Palermo has always been my style icon ever since she appeared on screen, she’s a star at styling and always look so immaculate! Here is how she wears her palazzo pants!

Invest in a pair, and you’ll be amaze at how chic and sophisticated it’ll make you feel!

Have a great week!

Do It For Less #1

13 May

Box Bag

This is a new and exciting series I’ve come up with. So every now and then I’d try and feature a trend that you could do it for less, or at least lesser than luxury brands!

For the first of the series, I’ll share my love and passion for this box bag trend. Essentially I think it’s a late 60s-early 70s trend brought back to life, much like most of the other trends we have. I still remember my mum used to rock her box bags everywhere when I was younger.

My bag crush for this trend has got to be the Celine box/flap bag, it is so timeless and chic. It does remind me of the Hermes Constance bag which is considered as vintage. I think both bags are gorgeous and the best part of it all, they embrace colours!

Now, if you’re like me, love to have a variety of bags for different outfits but sadly broke 😦 then maybe you could take the style of bag as inspiration and find a cheaper alternative. That way, you could probably buy 2/3 bags instead of just splurging on one designer bag. But of course, if you’re lusting over the Celine bag as much as I have, and you have the bank account for it, by all means buy it….and maybe you’re generous enough to buy me one too 🙂 my birthday is everyday hehe.

The beautiful Hermes Constance

I’ve found a few bags that are about the same style if not similar, at a lesser price point. Some of the bags still oozes the vintage 60s/70s look, but would probably be of different shapes and sizes.

Here are some choices if you want to do this trend for less;

1. Zara

2. ASOS

3. Miss Selfridge

There are probably more bags out there but I’ve only managed to select these few just to give you an idea where they could potentially be. Another good idea is to “thrift” it, that means you should go to your nearest vintage/thrift store and most probably you’ll find these type of bags flooding the store.

My favourite place to find these type of bags would be none other than my mum’s closet. Yes, I’ve fully raided her closet and found myself 3 bags that were of this particular style, thank god she takes care of her bags so they did not look worn out at all! I’ve happily added it to my collection of bags. So raid your mum’s closet today, she’d be more than happy to learn you appreciate her sense of style back when she was rocking big hair and big shoulder pads 🙂

Something to try: Tuck the straps into the bag and make it into a chic clutch bag!

Papa Tee

20 Apr

As I’ve previously mentioned, I ordered stuff off ASOS last week. So usually international mail would take like what 2-3 weeks? I know our mailing system in Malaysia isn’t that great but I was pleasantly surprised when I received this package last friday but only had the time to pick it up from the post office yesterday.

I ordered on the 10th, and it arrived in Malaysia on the 14th (as stated on the stamp), was held up at the post office on the 15th and carefully made its way to my house on the 19th! So basically it took 4 days to arrive! I am beyond impressed! I guess it’s not as frustrating as I thought for people here to be getting their ASOS orders.

I may have sounded unenthusiastic when I last wrote about ordering this, mainly because it was an uninteresting purchase but secretly I have had high hopes for this package. So you can imagine my disappointment when the t-shirt I bought was not what I expected. It was the wrong fit….as in TOO BIG. It’s not even a size too big, it was humongous!

As you can see I’ve opted to demonstrate how big that t-shirt is, I’ve tried it on and I could make a long tunic out of it or maybe a nightie! The one on the left is one of my t-shirt and even that t-shirt doesn’t exactly snug my body perfectly. It’s like baby t-shirt and its daddy!

I started writing this long email to ASOS stating how could their sizing differ so much from the usual. I bought that t-shirt in size 12 (I’m usually a size 10)  just because I wanted my t-shirt to be slightly loose and also I know cotton would shrink in the wash. Words like “unreliable”“standard sizing” and “disappointed” was mainly what flooded that email. So before I hit the send button I thought I would check this item on the website again.

And GUESS WHAT?

It clearly states…… Oversized T-shirt

My god I am so dense! Clearly it didn’t occur to me oversized would be OVERSIZED even though I stared at that same thing for days before ordering.

My friend used to call me a malteser. You know like the chocolate, not the dog. At least I hope she meant the chocolate?

Brown on the outside BLONDE on the inside. (Geee..thanks Asli,if you’re reading this).

So basically I deleted the email, every last word felt like it was mocking me. Imagine if I were to send that email, probably would get a freebie. Hehe.

My mission for today is to shrink the life out of that t-shirt! I’ll soak it in hot water for a few hours and maybe I would have to do a little sewing.

Oh and another purchase was that ring. I’m not too sure if I love it or not. It is bigger than what I thought (as usual), but I like the colour, very summery! The quality isn’t that bad too, very heavy! I think I could work it as a statement piece!

That’s all folks! I have some shrinking to do!

Again, I’ll be leaving you with a song that has been overplayed by me 🙂 I’ve always preferred any acoustic version.

The ASOS diet

15 Apr

Ok so ASOS is a pretty well-known online shop from the UK. I think most of my friends shop from there. I am a frequent shopper, and sometimes I just like browsing through their website and I’d usually start adding items to my cart and it would turn to be £xxx.xx

Even if I don’t end up buying, the activity itself would usually make my day! (adding things and just logging out in the end) It is very sad I know, but that is what I call self-control. It is very rare in my case, believe me.

NOT GOOD.

I am a certified shopaholic. My mum certified this for me. Based on my overspilling wardrobe!

So a while ago I bought a deal on Groupon.co.uk, it was buy £20 worth of voucher on ASOS for only £9. Pretty sweet right? So I bought ONE voucher. I thought ok £20 is quite a bit on ASOS and usually you could probably get 3 things on sale, basics and what not.

But i failed to read the small prints….yeah should’ve known, there is usually a catch!

“not valid on sale items”

DANG ITTT!

It took me literally 3 DAYS to finally decide on what I wanted. Honestly I’m not even exaggerating. Mostly because every time I get started the cart would amount to £75 and above.  All those hardwork and wasted days, and all I could come up with was just two boring buys. A tshirt and a ring!

I guess everyone needs a good basic white tee. I could never seem to get a good quality white tshirt that isn’t too see-through, too clingy. I hope this will be my perfect tee. The ring just reminds me of the YSL Arty Ring which I have been obsessed about, but I don’t have the $$$ to splurge 😦

The total checkout value was £22, so minus the £20 voucher, I only spent £2 extra!! Pats on the back 🙂

The best part is, ASOS is having this promotion where the shipping is FREE worldwide! I have no idea how long this offer will stay on for but I think anyone who is interested should purchase soon! Plus they are having a Mid Season Sale right now! I’m so jealous, they started the sale a day after I’ve purchase! I guess I couldn’t have used the voucher on sale items anyway.

Cant wait to rock my new ring…and the tshirt i guess?  mehh. Haha.
